Our Team

 

Our kind administration staff will greet and look after you when you arrive, and make you feel at ease.  

Our experienced and friendly dental assistants will care for you during your treatment in the surgery with your dental practitioner. 

Our Practice Manager (Chloe) and Business Manager (Felicity) complete a lot of work behind the scenes to ensure that things run smoothly. They both love connecting with patients and creating a warm and positive experience.

Dr Sweet is joined by Associate Dentist Dr Ram Pandey, Dr Emma Grubb, Dr Gavin Quek and Dr Justin Huang. Our caring and capable Oral Health Therapists (dual-trained hygienist and dental therapists) are Jade Cusack and Hannah Colantoni. Andrew Ferguson (Dental Prosthesist) visits our rooms once a week for denture work.

They are all registered with AHPRA and participate in regular and ongoing professional development. Our practitioners are members of the Australian Dental Association.

Kingston Beach Dental - Martyn Sweet

Dr Martyn Sweet

Dr Martyn Sweet (Practice Principal) has more than 20 years experience since graduating from the University of Adelaide. With his wife Felicity, he purchased Kingston Beach Dental in 2007 when it was located on the Esplanade at Kingston Beach.  He is proud of the reputation that Kingston Beach Dental has in the community. Dr Sweet is passionate about maintaining a positive workplace culture and providing exceptional patient care to improve the health of the community. Dr Sweet loves the mix of science and art involved in exceptional dentistry. Outside of the clinic, he is known for being a mad-keen mountain biker with a passion for travel and outdoor pursuits with his wife and two teenagers. A little known fact about Dr Sweet is that he is a hacky sack whiz and he is able to fix and repair almost anything with some time spent tinkering in his shed.

Kingston Beach Dental - Ram Pandey

Dr Ram Pandey has been a well-loved and valued member of the Kingston Beach Dental family since September 2017. He loves the fantastic staff, the premises and the patients. Dr Pandey has established a solid reputation as a gentle, capable and kind dentist who was recently described as “Dr Ray of Sunshine” with a passion for crazy socks. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his cat, Atticus; cooking on the BBQ ; dabbling in home renovations and garden maintenance; and exploring Tasmania by motorbike.

Ram’s hidden talent is learning to use binoculars to bird watch and experimenting with old-school film photography. He is also an avid reader and can be frequently spotted expanding his literary repertoire sitting in the sun relaxing at lunchtime to unwind.

Kingston Beach Dental - Emma Grubb

Dr Emma Grubb 
Dentist BDS (Bristol)

Dr Emma Grubb is a vibrant and caring dentist. She loves the team she works with and the amazing practice facilities and environment. She enjoys some of the challenges of dentistry including calming anxious patient and, the impact that a good clean can have to improve someone’s confidence and smile. Dr Grubb enjoys all aspects of dentistry and is a registered Invisalign provider. Dr Grubb is small in size but has a big heart and has earned a reputation as a calming and competent clinician with a sweet and gentle nature and a sensational laugh. In her spare time she loves hiking and trail running and curling up with a good book or a glass of wine. She has as soft spot for wombats. Her hidden talents are that she went to High School in France and speaks fluent French and has completed her yoga teacher training. Emma and her creative husband enjoy all that Tasmania has to offer.

 
 

Dr Gavin Quek
Dentist B.D.S. (Adel)

Dr Gavin Quek is graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2021.   He loves the collegiality,  mentoring of his colleagues, and the streamlined systems that are in place to provide an outstanding patient experience and workplace. 

Dr Quek has a compassionate, calm and meticulous manner and he enjoys all aspects of general dentistry.  In particular, he is extremely patient about preventative oral health to improve peoples’ overall health.  He has a long list of awards under his name because of his dental and community advocacy including Hobart Young Citizen of the Year 2023 and the 2023 Tasmanian Young Achiever of the Year.

He is the ADA Tasmania Secretary and Oral Health Promotion committee member, has presented at TEDx Hobart about curiosity and his passion for oral and general health.  He proudly provides pro-bono dental care through the ADHF Rebuilding Smiles Programme at Kingston Beach Dental. 

After all his hard work working and volunteering, Gavin relaxes by eating extra-super-super--spicey food; exercising and sleeping and adventuring in Tasmania.   His secret skills include being a dab hand at Ping Pong and solving the Rubik’s cube in under a minute.  He will also happily recite the value of pi to an endless number of places.

 

Dr Justin Huang
Dentist B.D.S. (Adel)

Dr Justin Huang has more than 10 years’ worth of experience working as a dentist on the Eastern Shore and is another excellent dental graduate from Adelaide University.  Dr Huang is very happy to have moved south to Kingston to continue making his patients and colleagues smile, and the Kingston Beach Dental family are just as thrilled. 

Justin is a talented clinician and great communicator who puts patients immediately at ease with his thorough, kind and gentle manner. 

He loves the patients at Kingston Beach Dental (including those who have followed him from his previous practice).  He is grateful for the support of his fellow clinicians and the whole support team that make his days flow smoothly.

The start of the art facilities and modern technology satisfy Dr Huang’s love of learning so that he can educate and empower patients to improve their health while continuing to refine his skills in all aspects of restorative dentistry including clear aligner orthodontics.

Outside of work, Justin is an awesome Dad who enjoys spending quality time with his wife and cute toddler, Kai.  In between daddy duties he can be found building and collecting Lego and following the English Premier League soccer.

Jade Cusack
Oral Health Therapist Adult Scope BOH (USyd)

Jade grew up in the Northern Rivers Region of NSW and has also lived in Canada and Sydney. After visiting Tasmania several years ago, she was taken by the beauty, lifestyle and sense of community and moved here in early 2021. Jade graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Oral Health with adult scope. Her academic excellence and ability was rewarded with recognition on the Dean’s List of Academic Excellence.

Jade loves the team that she gets to work with every day and the amazing friends she has made at Kingston Beach Dental. She loves forming positive patient relationships to reduce dental anxiety and increase patient confidence. For Jade, knowing she is having a positive impact on patient’s oral health and life is very rewarding.

Jade loves playing sport, boxing, hiking, going to the beach, exploring markets, reading and exploring beautiful Tassie!

Her hidden talent is that she is a waterpolo whiz with coaching and playing at state level for NSW and Tasmania.

 
 

Hannah Colantoni
Oral Health Therapist B.OralHlth (Adel)

Hannah Colantoni is our Oral Health Therapist who graduated from the University of Adelaide over a decade ago after “cutting her teeth” and growing up in her family’s own dental practice in Hobart.

Hannah joined the Kingston Beach Dental team in 2014 and well and truly established her professional reputation within the community and has been recognised with the ADOHTA 2019 Community Service Award. 

Hannah went on extended maternity leave in 2020.  Now that her gorgeous children Roxy and Alfie are toddlers, Hannah is back to provide routine dental treatment for children under 18 years of age and specialised periodontal and oral care, cleaning and oral hygiene education for adults. 

Hannah is passionate about oral health education and treating and managing periodontal disease to improve peoples’ overall health.  Hannah has an exceptional sense of humour, and it is common to hear her patients giggling in the surgery with her as she gently and thoroughly cleans their teeth and gums.

In her spare time, she can be found in playgrounds and at Kindergym with her kids and 8-year-old fur-baby labradoodle Gracie.  Hannah’s hidden talent is cooking up a storm in the kitchen in between being an awesome mother and cleaning up constantly after toddlers.  

 

Kingston Beach Dental - Felicity Sweet

Felicity Sweet 
Owner and Business Manager

Felicity is passionate about providing an exceptional patient experience and ensuring that Kingston Beach Dental is a great place to work. She works closely with Practice Manager Chloe, and is responsible for Practice Accreditation and compliance; HR and staffing; marketing; team culture and values; social events; paying the bills and the many and varied behind-the-scenes task involved in running a family business. She loves that every day is different and rewarding. She is grateful for the amazing, loyal and hard-working team and the skilled practitioners who provide outstanding dental care. In her spare time she loves to travel; spend quality time with her family; and slow things down with yoga.

Felicity’s hidden talents are that she is an obsessive list writer; enjoys cooking and sewing; loves fancy dress parties and costumes; and was a high school Maths and Science teacher for 15 years.

Kingston Beach Dental - Chloe Baxter

Chloe Baxter 
Practice Manager

Chloe is the capable and hard-working Practice Manager at Kingston Beach Dental.

She has an extensive track record working in dentistry, having grown up in a dental practice alongside her sister Hannah Colantoni (their father, Bernard, was a highly regarded dentist until his retirement).  

Chloe is a fantastic problem solver, with a big heart. She cares deeply about patients and the practice and has an incredible work ethic. Chloe says the “staff are the best and I love our loyal patients who make each day a wonderful, friendly adventure”.

In her spare time, she takes her miniature labradoodle Joni on adventures and is a dedicated house renovator and frequenter of Bunnings. She also loves watching her iPad and whipping up a culinary storm. Something you might not know about Chloe’s secret past is that she has been front-page news modelling a diamond necklace prize for the Hobart International Tennis competition and riding a Vespa to work. 

Kingston Beach Dental - Goldie Sweet

Goldie is the newest member of the Kingston Beach Dental team and is Martyn and Felicity’s third child. She is a non-shedding hypoallergenic toy labradoodle born in March 2020.
