Covid and Infection Control: The Incredible Lengths we go to keep our Team and the Community Safe

At Kingston Beach Dental we pride ourselves as an Accredited dental practice with an exceptional level of infection control, compliance and safety for our staff and patients.   Covid-19 has created an even greater awareness of the need for vigilance with infection control.

Here is what we are doing to be Covid-safe:

  1. Covid Safety plan is in place and followed by all staff:  we are all over the paperwork and compliance checklists and we are ticking boxes all day every day!.

  2. Staff temperatures taken every day.  Anybody with any gastro or cold or flu-like symptoms is not allowed to come to work.

  3. Staff are mindful of their interactions and behaviour and safety outside of work as well.

  4. Hand hygiene is always followed:  We have been washing our hands since way before it was trendy! Our morning meeting is where we focus on continuous improvement to ensure that Kingston Beach Dental is one of the safest places we can be.

  5. No walk-ins for changes of appointment or to make bookings.  Please follow the signs that are on our front door and sandwich board out the front and call us.

  6. Minimise the number of people attending the practice with you for your appointment please and socially distant seating is set up for your comfort.

  7. We have removed magazines, books and toys from our patient lounge for the time being.  Channel D in our patient lounge is an entertaining and a great educational distraction to watch..

  8. All visitors are required to use hand sanitiser upon arrival.  Contractors sign our visitor log for contact-tracing purposes.

  9. Deliveries are made through our rear entrance and are contactless where possible.  Boxes are sanitised with Viraclean before unpacking.

  10. At the time of making appointments we  ask our Covid-screening questions about quarantine, travel, symptoms and contact.  We value people’s honesty

  11. We ask these questions again the day before every appointment.  It takes us a while to call everyone so please be proactive if you have any symptoms or any Covid-risk factors.

  12. On arrival you will be asked the same questions.   Our Front of House team are saying these questions in their sleep.  Thank you for being kind to them and understanding..  This level of care and vigilance is essential to keep our workplace Covid-free.

  13. We take patient temperatures before their appointments.

  14. In the surgery we always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety precautions required by the Dental Board of Australia and the NHMRC.

  15.  After every appointment all surfaces are thoroughly disinfected and equipment is sterilised to legislated standards.  These are standard operating procedures for us and have been for a very long time..

  16. Contactless payments are preferred and we will get you to assist by swiping your own health fund cards after your appointment..

  17. Our payments area, HICAPS terminals and shared spaces are wiped over between every patient throughout the day by administrative staff using medical grade cleaning products and wipes.

If you or your family have been in any high-risk areas or have any cold or flu-like symptoms:  please call us as soon as possible to defer your dental appointment.  For updated information please follow the link to the Department of Health updates:

For changes to appointments our practice policy is that you please provide us with a minimum of 24 hours’ notice to avoid a broken appointment fee.  Please be mindful that this is a very difficult and challenging time for everybody including small businesses.  Giving us plenty of notice will assist us in managing our resources and staffing to minimise the financial impact on our business and staff.

We look forward to continuing to provide Quality and Caring Dentistry for you, your family and friends.  As a small business we truly appreciate all your support in keeping Kingston Beach Dental a safe and positive environment.
